Racial Harmony Day fall on teh 21st of July.As stated in Wikipedia, The event is to commemorate a racial riot which took place on 21 July 1964. Racial Harmony Day also represents a day for schools to reflect on, and celebrate Singapore's success as a racially harmonious nation and society built on a rich diversity of culture and heritage. In schools all across the nation on that day, students are encouraged to be dressed in their traditional costumes such as the Cheongsam and the Baju Kurung. Traditional delicacies are also featured in the celebrations. Traditional games such as Kutih-kutih and zero point are played in schools, where inter-class competitions are sometimes organised.
In Singapore, it is extremely important to maintain racial harmony and the small little red dot cannot withstand the impact of racial conflict. This will not only affect every single people living in Singapore, but will also, cripple Singapore's economy. Especially when resource is scarce and there is little land to spare, it is very important to maintain every single relation, whether is it within racial or with other racial groups.
Without today's racial co-operation, Singapore would not have made to a globalised and well developed country. If racial critics were to fly across different racial groups, there would be riots and strikes, leading to disorder destruction, not only buildings, but also the people.
Racial harmony can be maintained if everyone plays a part in maintaining it. It is like a piece of glass, brittle and shatters easily when dropped. Be conscious of what you do and what you say about other racial and religious groups. Interact more, and get to know more about each others culture. This way, racial harmony will for sure be conserved.
HAPPY RACIAL HARMONY DAY!!

"Prejudice is a disease we can never get rid of." Discuss.
What is the definition of prejudice? As stated in Wikipedia, the word prejudice referred to a prejudgmental statement of ill doing, or an evaluation or decision made before the facts of a case could be properly determined and weighed. This usage was subsequently broadened to include any unreasonable attitude that is unusually resistant to rational influence.
Personally, prejudice can never be gotten rid of. In today's world, the human population to too big to ensure that prejudice does not exist in every corner of Earth. People would usually have different opinions of other people, whether is it different race, religion or sex. These opinions that are not based on true facts , reason or experience are the roots to many conflicts in the world. One example of prejudice is the racial prejudice.
In the United States of America, African American are often accused as criminals and called as "nigger". However, in actual fact, 97% of the crimes in US are committed intra-racially, as stated in the Winfrey Oprah video. Because of the way they behave and those tattoos that they have on them, they are being labelled as "bad people". Many people would also think that blacks cannot be degree-holders but whites can. Therefore, this could lead to discrimintion as well.
What is more troubling is the probability that the refusal to treat those who inject drugs or who are infected with hepatitis C and HIV is a manifestation of social prejudice rather than fear of disease. Both of these viral diseases are associated with injecting drug use, a chronic relapsing condition that many still consider more a sign of moral weakness or personal indulgence than a symptom of a treatable condition. The consistent underfunding of drug treatment, the unwillingness to plan prevention programs such as syringe exchanges, and a tendency toward simplistic slogans ("Just say no!") suggest a continuing societal blind spot. People who are known to do drugs, or people who get diseases that might mean they do drugs, are likely to become non-people, disposable people, neglected people. In the rapidly evolving world of care, payment for and treatment of mental illness and addictions remain separate from other payment and treatment systems. Even Congressional action in support of equity seems to have had little impact on this segregation.

Although these issues are announced and make known to the world, we would still need to change the mindset of those of make prejudice statements. However, these group of people is too big, that is why prejudice would be a disease that is not curable.

YouTube has no ethics, it's been created for the sole purpose of entertainment and money.” Do you agree?
In today's world, Youtube has become a platform for many people to view music videos, drama series and movies. Despite its small screen size, with not-so-good quality, its number of viewers never fails to drop. It also allow people to upload their personal video and let their viewers rate them. However, it has raise the attention of many people due to the copyrighted laws.
Personally, i agree that Youtube is created for the sole purpose of entertainment and money. With high viewrship rate, Youtube is able to make huge amount of profit. Moreover, the media behemoth, Google, paid $1.65 billion for YouTube. This upset Viacome and demand for compensation as Youtube contains many copyrighted material that belongs to Viacome. According to a July 16, 2006 survey, 100 million clips are viewed daily on YouTube, with an additional 65,000 new videos uploaded per 24 hours. The site has almost 20 million visitors each month, according to Nielsen/NetRatings, where around 44% are female, 56% male, and the 12- to 17-year-old age group is dominant.
As there is no restriction of what videos that can be put up in Youtube, we can find many copyrighted and offensive videos there. For example, the Thailand case whereby the contentious film shows feet being placed over the king's face - an offensive act to Thais, who consider feet dirty.
However, Youtube brings benefits to the public by providing useful medical tips and explanation to certain illnesses and diseases. An example would be the "Hip-hop breast examination". It shows a clip, a comedy troupe from Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, tries encouraging women to do a monthly self-exam for breast cancer by putting the message to a popular hip-hop song. The woman singing the adapted version of the song encourages others to: “Raise your arms in the air/ check for tumours up in there/ check after your menses/ then go shop for Fendi”.
Ultimately, there are pros and cons with the presence of Youtube.
For example, the Thai government has banned access to the YouTube video-uploading website after it broadcast material critical of the country's king recently. YouTube, however declined to remove the offensive 44 seconds video clip.
